We were chatting in class this week about the benefits of breathing effectively so I've made a little video for you to help you get the most out of breathing.
4 Reasons why Breath is useful: * Suffer from a tight back, shoulders, neck or hips? All of these things can be related so opening up the mid back through using the right breath can really help. * Find it hard to connect to your centre? Breathing effectively can help the diaphragm to move freely and make it easier for the breastbone to soften and naturally engage your abdominals and pelvic floor. * Calms the nervous system - lateral breathing (that we practice in Pilates) helps to calm the parasympathetic nervous system leaving you feeling calmer and more relaxed. It also helps you to sleep! * Improves the immune system by filling the body with clean energising air and exhaling any stale air in the lungs, giving your lungs a good workout! This can be a bit tricky at the beginning but keep practising and it'll come!
